Our blanket distribution concluded yesterday with a moment that I will always remember. Throughout the day, blankets were offered to those in need, each gesture carrying its own completeness. Yet at the very end, one blanket remained.

I thought of a lonely Shiva Mandir, where the lingam is not cared for much, and wondered if this last blanket should be draped upon Him. My driver reassured me, “Maa, the last will also find its deserving one.” We moved forward, and just 500 meters ahead, at a crossroads, sat a Baba ji. He was round in build, with flowing jata and a stick for support, but without much protection against the winter. We stopped immediately.
He did not make eye contact with us. I stayed in the car, while Shuvam and the volunteers approached. Shuvam told him, “This is for you, not to give away.” Baba ji opened the packet and wrapped the blanket around himself exactly as one would drape a lingam. He even spoke to Shuvam, saying, “See, I am draping it in front of you only, so you may know.”
We laughed, Shuvam bubbled with joy, and I simply looked at him. In that moment, there was no explanation, no drama—only completion. When we looked back, Baba ji was no longer there. Both of us knew it was Mahadev Himself, appearing just long enough to receive the last blanket.
This experience was phenomenal. It was not just the conclusion of a distribution drive, but a darshan. The last blanket was not given to a man—it was draped upon Shiva. My mind was fulfilled, and His presence was assured.
